The Michigan State basketball team beat no. 7 Kansas Jayhawks tonight with a final score 67-64. It was a close match the entire time, with Keith Appling coming through at the end to score the points that sealed the deal. Freshman Gary Harris also contributed to the win while star point guard, Travis Trice, was out with concussion symptoms.
In the post game interview, head coach, Tom Izzo said of his squad, "I don't think we were great.. but… we executed a little bit better tonight… I had two freshmen in there a lot at the end and they made some big plays."
This was a very important win for MSU, starting off the season with a win against a top team will be great for the ego of this young team, hopefully fueling them forward into a successful season. A full review of the game will be posted tomorrow.
